Red de Excelencia en Biotecnología Azul: Consolidación, Certificación y Transferencia
REBECA es una plataforma de desarrollo y cooperación territorial creada para fomentar la Biotecnología Azul dentro del ámbito geográfico de la región Macaronésica y el noroeste de África.
REBECA reúne a colecciones de cultivo, centros de I+D y a la Administración con la misión de conservar y poner en valor la Biodiversidad y servir de embrión para el desarrollo e implantación de una industria innovadora basada en el cultivo de las microalgas y cianobacterias que suponga una motor económico y la mejora de la calidad de vida de la región.
De los resultados del proyecto se beneficiarán las empresas biotecnológicas en el ámbito de la alimentación, nutracéutica, cosmética y de la salud; los sectores primarios de la agricultura (biofertilizantes, biopesticidas) y la acuicultura (piensos, moléculas funcionales); y, de forma directa o indirecta, el sector servicios del turismo gracias al uso racional de los recursos naturales y de la oferta de productos locales.
